Boxed Up

S7001944

Today has been about putting things in boxes.  One box was destined for Jo at Fabulous Welshcakes .  A chance encounter with another lady led to this contact and it has been a good one.  My Chalkboards  have all sold and I had another ten to make.

The first order included my Washing Up Liquid Aprons but I was surprised to find that they weren't selling at all.  It turned out that her husband had bought a square shaped washing up liquid bottle and when Jo changed it for one of the curvy bottles, then they started selling.

The other box is a sample box for a Welsh boutique.

Fingers crossed that she likes what's in there.

I am leaving you with this self portrait of Keanan.  He must have taken this photograph when I wasn't looking.

Enjoy your weekend!

Shop Update

I don't usually do a shop update and then announce it on the blog - so this is a first for me.  But I have had more fun doing it this way: making something up and putting it aside for the update.  And I have to admit that I have gone to town a little with the ruffler.

Plus (deep breath here) I have cut into my vintage fabric.  Oh yes - I threw caution to the wind and got out my scissors.  After the first cut, I was away.

Drumroll please for the Shop Update

Here they all are (not terribly good lighting as we have rain yet again!).  This child's smock/overall was made using a vintage 1940s pattern and I used my 1950s cotton for this.  Embellished with a front pocket made from reproduction 1930s feedsack.

My sister had her eye on these when she came over yesterday.  Hanging pockets for your delicates/underwear or precious items

Both of them are made from 1950s cotton - I did tell you that I had cut into my vintage stash didn't I?

Padded children's hangers that I just HAD to embellish with vintage ribbon and a paper flower

And my favourites: lavender lovelies

I think I'll let the sewing machine have a night off tonight.

Ruffled Up

I ordered my first ever item from Etsy at the weekend and it arrived today.  It was a necessity rather than an indulgence as I was rapidly running out of baker's twine.  I was very good and photographed the beautiful packaging before ripping it open!

Apparently I was Cristina's first Etsy purchase - how sweet.  To beginner's together!  But let's get back to what was inside:

Buttons

Please ignore the bad lighting on these photos - it's raining again.  Lovely buttons perfect for my new shelf

Bakers_twine

Thanks Cristina, - it will be used tonight.

Back to my shop update and sneak peek.  I decided that I HAD to have ruffles on one of the new items and so out came the ruffler.  Then I realised that I had somehow acquired two.

Ruffler

The upshot is that it's up for sale in the shop.   It comes with the original box and I have written brief directions for use on the listing.    SOLD - Thanks

And if you want to know what the finished ruffles look like - here's another sneek peak

Aren't I bad teasing you with another sneek peak?

Sewing up a Storm

My tidy up of the studio seems to have done the trick and I have been busy sewing and creating new items.

Wholesale_order

Part of the sewing has been peg bags, carrier bag stores, tea cosies and washing up liquid aprons for a wholesale order.  A biggish one as the owner wants this order to keep her going throughout the summer.  The shop, Fabulous Welshcakes is pretty near and rather than post out, I drop the order as the owner's house is on the way to the boys' school.

I also need to put together a box to send to Claire  as she is doing a craft stall and has kindly offered to take some of my produts along.

Hangers

Talking of craft stalls, I received confirmation today of my stall at the Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival which is held on Saturday 27 and Sunday 18 October.  I had a stall last year, which went well and hopefully it will be just as good this year.

I am not going to tell you what I have been making in preparation for my shop update - just tease you with some sneak peeks.

Vintage_fabric

And yes, I have been cutting into some of my vintage fabric as well as using the my fabric order from Repot Depot.  I need to get it all finished now.  As the Shop update will be on Thursday.

Better get back to the sewing machine!

My car boot sale was limited by the weather again.  No car boot sale on Saturday and a quick visit on Sunday to the handful of brave souls who set up their stalls.  On my list was a shelf for some of my buttons etc.

It cost me 50p and after a quick sand and a colourwash, is just the right size for those essentials that need to be at hand.  I added a cuphook for these tiny little items

Punch_and_scissors

I had to buy a new hole punch for my labels as I couldn't find my old one (which was boring and black anyway).  Threading ribbon through them means that they can hang on the shelf and shouldn't get lost again.

Tin

This Cadburys Roses tin was also a car boot sale find which was full of buttons.  Do I really need more buttons?  but you never know what you might find in there.

Whilst on my way to buy some fabric last week, I stopped in a charity shop and found these flying ducks.  I know that they usually come in threes and that there are only two here, but I couldn't leave them in the shop.

S7001853

Rather than putting them somewhere conspicous that Stephen would spot, they are flying about the kitchen cupboards.  We are on Day 2 and they still haven't been spotted yet.  I wonder how long it will be before they are noticed and I can casually say that they have been there AGES ..............

Sneak_peek

As well as sewing for a wholesale order, I have been putting together some new ideas ready for a shop update that will be later this week.  Sneak peek above!
