Sewing Basket
A little late - but I have finished the sewing basket for my friend Emma.
She was given a sewing machine and can use it - though she doesn't feel too confident witht he sewing machine. I have given her a lesson and am hoping that this little basket of sewing treats will encourage her to sew and help her feel more confident.
I had originally bought a basket from the car boot sale at the weekend, but when I saw this little Red Riding Hood basket yesterday in a charity shop, I decided that this was the one!
I lined it with some cherry print fabric from my stash and added a red gingham bow to the handle.
And now for the contents ....
I know you 've seen these before .
A bundle of fabric tied with rik rak. All from my fabric stash plus a packet of vintage binding.
I covered the tape measure following Craftapalooza's instructions on Whip Up. It turned out OK, but I think it would have been better if I had actually had some wool felt as she suggested. I used a thick fabric instead.
The completed basket
Hope she likes it!

I am sure she will and if she doesn't I could definately give it home.

That is so pretty. If that doesn't make you want to start sewing, I don't know what will! What a great gift! :-)

Gorgeous as ever! I'd certainly love it if a basket like that turned up on my doorstep! I am always so jealous when I see English blogs with such lovely fabric, where on earth do you get it from without having to order from the States?

Thank you so much for the sweet comments on my color week photos. Likewise, I love your gift sewing basket. My grandmother made me one similar to yours when I was 12. I still use the handmade pincushion and needle case. A lovely basket indeed!
