Friends reunited

Hello again!  I have not blogged for a few days as all my energy had been concentrated in the garden.  A few weeks ago a conifer started going brown and dying. After "watching" it for a few weeks it was obvous that it had died.  Not having liked it much anyway, I grabbed the opportunity to chop it down whilst Stephen was at the cinema with the boys.  He came back to fait accompli and a big stump to dig out of the garden!

Quite some time later (and a little muscle power from the car, there was a new space for me to fill.

To cut a long stort short I spent about two days digging out huge clumps of crocosmia.  They may look pretty, but they have hijacked the garden and just have to go!  After that was the fun part - the planting.  A Ceanothus to fill the gap left and some pretty cottage garden plants such as lupin.

To finish off the garden revamp, I included the bird table.  After all, birds can appreciate pretty things too!

The highlight of today was a visit from my friend Claire, who emigrated to the States about 6 years ago.  I first met her whilst doing a Business and Finance course and we have kept in touch since.   She was last over with her boyfriend, Renato, about 18 months ago.  So it was good to see her again.

So this is for Claire to read when she gets into work on Monday.  Hi Claire!

When I pictured your husband in my mind, I never imagined him so muscle-y. ;) Glad you got to see your friend again.

Always best to do these things while the other half is out of the way! A friend of mine ran a stanley knife all over her carpet and pulled up random chunks so he had no choice but to remove it and sand the floor boards!

Wow, you have been busy!

And visititng with friends is always lovely, especially when they live so far away.

It sounds like you had a very busy and successful time in your garden...It looks so sunny and warm, whilst we are shivering in our winter.
Glad you had a nice visit with your friend.
