Spring Cleaning
I have had a few days off from blogging as I've been busy at home. Plus we had a bank holiday yesterday which meant no school for the boys. Stephen and I took them to the cinema to see Ice Age 2 It was bearable but the boys enjoyed it! At the cinema complex there was a Doctor Who exhibition. The boys have only just started getting into Doctor Who, but they love it. And the fact that it is produced in Wales is something for us to be proud of!
On a whim Sunday I repainted our hall. We have two halls in our 1960s bungalow. An entrance hall at the front and a small internal hall which the bedrooms etc lead off. Admittedly I am a bit of a paint freak and regularly repaint walls in our house as soon as they look a little grubby. And boy was the hall grubby. It was a cream colour - but so dirty. And now it is white. All the rooms in our house are white (apart from our bedroom which is milk white). I just love white so much - it is so calming and spacious.
This is the new addition to the hall. It is the sad little table that I bought for £2 from the boot sale a few weeks ago. I never intended to keep it, but it looked so lovely after repainting that I just couldn't let it go. The shells were also a boot sale buy. I bought three carrier bags full. This is only a small selection. I need to buy a large glass vase to out the others in.
The other piece of furniture in the hall - this little plant stand which has also received the white paint treatment. And I bought this little maidenhair fern at the weekend as it looked a little bare.
Here in the UK we have a dreary grey light. It is amazing how much difference it has made painting the walls white, even though they were cream before. One project finished - time to find the next one!
My swap parcel from Michelle at Green Kitchen arrived. A lovely hair slide and the chicken
Look at the chicken on the pincushion. He is a pin! And so are all the little flowers around him. They are so intricate. The pincushion is adorable - all the colours match so beautifully. Thanks Michelle!

That reminds me... I need to repaint my kitchen! I love that pincushion and the cute pins!

You're so lucky to find such gorgeous furniture to do up, and so cheaply.

That is a seriously pretty pincushion.
As for your furniture finds, why don't I ever find anything like that at boot sales?

Wow, white walls and kids your so brave!!! I like that table loads. We live in a bungalow too, its a nightmare, as people in house only have to keep the downstairs tidy, but in bungalows people get to see everything. New visitors always end up opening every door to a messy bedroom before they find the loo. That's toilet to those outside the uk!) However all that now me will say I don't actually tidy anything!

Your hall looks so fresh and clean, wish I had the energy to do some painting around here. Nothing like a fresh coat of paint.

Oh yes, the pin cushion is amazing.
And I love that you're a "painting freak." Wanna come over for a visit? (unfortunately, we have no white walls though -- the boys' room comes closest as "heavy cream").

It all looks great. I'm such a fan of a white background inside a house.
