A Birthday and plenty of sewing
Yesterday was Ethan, my eldest son's birthday. 10. What a milestone - double figures. He opened his presents before school and after school my sister and my parents came round with more presents.
Not a great photo as the sun was behind us. (Note Ethan is sporting the Jimi Hendrix look as he is between braids). The presents consisted of many James Bond items, a pair of trainers, some wrestling figures and clothes. Saturday night is party night. He is having about 5 friends over to watch a video and two are staying the night. So no sleep for me Saturday night!
I managed to get some sewing done whilst he was in school Monday.
My new camera case. The old one was grey and blah. I has some fabric left over, vintage wool blanket for padding and voila. Easy peezy lemon squeezy!
Ready for Saturday. I bought this lovely Michael Miller fabric from e-Bay. I bought 1 metre and used less than half, so I shall have to think of something else to sew with it. I was really pleased to find some fabric suitable for boys without being too childish. Ethan was pleased with it as he loves anything to do with WW2.
I have some more mail photos to show. Carolyn from Laughing Duck. It started with the needlecase and she was so generous
But look at these buttons! Carolyn's attention to detail is amazing. The little cherubs at the top are such a clever idea.
Lanterns and the most amazing orange braiding All tied up beautifully and with labels.
Binding, trim and pattern book. There was also some gingham binding which I ripped open straight away. And a note. I am blown away by Carolyn's generosity (especially considering I am behind and need to send her parcel a.s.a.p Sorry!)
But a big THANKS!
And a sneak of my next project.
I bought this little trolley at the weekend from the car boot sale. Where else? I have wanted one for ages to make lugging all my purchases around easier. So for the princely sum of £2 this was mine. A further £10 was spent on the oilcloth etc ready for the transformation. The plan is to take apart the cover, use it as a template and have the floral cover.
Watch this space .............. and yes, I am a saddo that always has to have 101 things on the go!

Happy birthday Ethan(one day older than Maisie!)
Love the parcel I bet you had a big smile:)That shopping trolley brings back memories!!

1. I love Ethan's hair.
2. You make camera cases? And chance you'll do a tutorial of that? Must. Make. (or have) A. Camera. Case!
3. Love the little goodie bags your whipped up for Ethan's party. Perfect for a 10-year old.
4. Oh-my-goodness the needlebook!
5. I'm-gonna-pass-out the buttons! And the attention to detail! I have a lot to learn!
6. I'm quite excited to see how your trolly turns out -- that's an impressive undertaking!

I love the finished party bags, and the camera bag ( I would never have thought of that one either).
My mum made swap card bags for my boys out of black velvet and purple rope with tasseled ends when Harry Potter and Pokemon were huge in this house. I imagine you could make marble bags as well. I find these little bags are great to keep boys *stuff* in.
PS: Your son has great hair, I am so envious.

Happy Birthday to Ethan! He does look a bit like Jimi Hendrix in that picture... if only he had a flaming guitar. :)

That trolley is a very ambitious project. The oil cloth you picked though is very pretty. I'm sure it will look absolutely fantastic when it's done. And the camera case - What a clever idea!
