There's a mouse in the house
To justify my enormous craft book collection, I flicked through one and a yo yo pattern for a little mouse caught my eye. Many people have been blogging about making these little yo yos. Turkey Feathers has used them in bag making, and Craftapalooza provided a tutorial on Whip Up. Not having made them before I gave it a go.
I fiddled around and changed the pattern and here's the result
She stands about 14cm tall from base to the tip of her ear. Apart from a sewing her head and ears on the sewing machine, everything else was hand sewn. Which means that she can be made sitting in front of the TV etc.
Now this leads me to my question. I was thinking of offering Dora as a kit. Everything ready cut out and packaged, mailed to you ready to sew. The materials would be very similar - brown velvet for the face, ears and tail and cotton fabric circles for the yo yos.
Parcelled up and sent to you. All you would have to supply is the polyfill for the head and strong thread to sew and attach the yo yos. The price that I was thinking of was £5 including postage (worldwide).
If anyone is interested, just drop me a line!

She's lovely, did you draw the house behind, it's really sweet.

How cute! I was wondering about the backdrop too!

That is fantastic! What a wonderful idea and sooo cute. I am afraid I have more projects than I can handle now and my sitting down hand-sewing time is so limited... but I am sure there are folks that would love to give her a go. You can make a series --kitties, doggies, and snakes (obviously..) :-)

Great idea and the price is more than reasonable! I've got enough stash and projects myself, but I'm sure other people will like it!

I love this Samantha, it's so cute! There seems to be no end to the things one can make with a humble yo-yo. The backdrop is amazing as well. (thanks for the links)

Oh, that is adorable!
I was thinking of making a yo-yo quilt, but I have to wait until I'm at some point in my life where I have the funds for something pretty but not practical.
But the mouse is totally practical.

I have a strange weakness for yo-yo toys. My brother had a yo-yo clown that I totally coveted as a little girl.
I love your little mouse and the kit is a great idea and such a good price! I'd definitely love one. Would you ship to the US?
